Intelligent Transportation Society (ITS) Singapore was formed in August 26, 2001. The aim of this society is to bring together the professional interests of those in public and private organizations, practitioners, academics and researchers related to ITS, and create opportunities for networking and interaction.

Our Councillors

Mr Fred Kalt
President

Fred Kalt is the Managing Director for Yunex Traffic – a former Siemens Business and is leading the regional APAC HQ for ITS in Singapore since 2017.

He held several Senior Management positions in Siemens with international assignments in China, ASEAN, USA, Africa and is dedicated to the ITS industry since he took over the Siemens’ ITS Unit in Beijing for North East Asia back in 2005.

Fred studied Information Technology and Electrical Engineering in Germany and has a passion for ITS related innovations driving the Mobility industry, be it in business and technology.

Mr Mohit Sindhwani
1st Vice President

Mohit is the CTO at Quantum Inventions (QI), a company of Continental Corporation. Singapore head-quartered QI delivers products and solutions for Intelligent Transport Systems and Fleet Mobility as a Service and counts many government agencies and blue-chip companies in Singapore and across the region as customers.

Mohit has helmed the technology function at QI from its inception and has consistently worked with QI's customers to deliver compelling value and innovation. Mohit is also passionate about, and directly involved with, ITS standardisation activities in Singapore.

Mr Howie Sim
Treasurer

Mr Howie Sim leads the Client Service Unit for Healthcare & Transport sector in NCS.  He is responsible for helping clients accelerate their digital transformation journey and solving future business needs.

With over 25 years of experience, Howie’s areas of expertise include management consulting, IT consulting and business process outsourcing.  His key roles in the past included client partner/client account lead for strategy client services. He leads large-scale transformation and IT projects for clients, as well as overall client relationship management.

Howie has served as an industry practice lead in the transport and education sector, contributing to the growth and capability-building in APAC, ASEAN & Singapore regions. He enjoys helping clients to digitally transform their business enterprises to the next level of business growth.

Howie graduated with Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Finance) and Master of Business Administration with California State University, Sacramento, U.S.A.

Ms Wong Sook Kwan
Secretary

Ms Wong Sook Kwan is currently the Senior Manager of the Intelligent Transport Systems Development Division in the Land Transport Authority of Singapore. She leads a team that manages strategic ITS collaborations and development with the industry and academic institutions. The team focuses on research, development, and test bedding of new technologies. Sook Kwan was most recently involved as a member of the secretariat at the 26th ITS World Congress 2019 in Singapore.

Sook Kwan graduated from the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore with a Bachelor Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering (Hons).

Mr Ang Kim Siah
Councillor

Mr Ang Kim Siah is the Senior Vice President/Head of Mobility Road Business Unit in ST Engineering. Since 1988, Mr Ang has been actively involved in complex system development in the areas of Flight Control, Stabilised Platform and Intelligent Transport Systems, working closely with local and overseas agencies.

Graduated with an Upper Honours Degree of Engineering (Electrical) from National University of Singapore, he went on to obtain a Master of Engineering from Nanyang Technological University in 1993. He attended Stanford Executive Program in 2012.

Mr Goh Siow Chong
Councillor

Mr Goh Siow Chong is the Chief Information Officer of the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA), Singapore’s planning authority. With a clear data and AI strategy, he has built many advance digital tools and platforms to support collaborative work across government agencies. He also champions the agile teams as a way for business transformation and innovation. He received the Public Service Transformation Award (Exemplary Leader) in 2020.

Mr Goh holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Computing Science) with 1st Class Honours from the Imperial College London and Master of Technology (Software Engineering) from National University of Singapore.

Ms Suvi Schwab
Councillor

Ms Suvi Schwab is the Regional Director of INIT Asia-Pacific looking after the Asian region for the INIT Group – the worldwide leading supplier of fare collection and integrated telematics solutions for public transport.

She has over 10 years of experience in working with several types of Public Transport ITS topics including Inclusive Public Transport, Electromobility, Fare Collection, Passenger Counting, Mobility-as-a-Service, Scheduling & Dispatching and Fleet Management. She is also very active in social media writing articles and sharing about Public Transport.

Associate Professor Zheng Jianxin
Councillor

A.Prof Zheng Jianxin obtained his PhD degree in Advanced Materials for Micro- and Nano-Systems under the Singapore-MIT Alliance Program, and Bachelor of Engineering degree with first class honours from the National University of Singapore.

He is an associate professor at Engineering cluster, Singapore Institute of Technology, where he is the programme director for the undergraduate programme in Telematics (Intelligent Transportation Systems Engineering). He is also serving as chair for outreach subcommittee in Rail and Transportation Technical Committee from Institute of Engineers Singapore (IES). His research interests include transport simulation, autonomous vehicles and sensor technologies.

Mr Alan Quek
Co-opt Councillor

Mr Alan Quek is currently the Regional Head of Business Development for Southeast Asia (SEA) with Aimsun Pte Ltd where he is responsible for the business development and expansion of Aimsun’s digital mobility solutions in the region. He is concurrently serving as a Board of Director with Willers Pte Ltd.

Alan is an engineer by training with a Masters of Science in Urban Transport Management and is a Chartered Engineer (Transportation) with the Institution Engineers of Singapore (IES). He has 25 years of working experience in the field of intelligent transport systems (ITS), traffic simulations and autonomous vehicles where he spent 15 years in the public sector with the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and 8 years in the private sector.

He has been actively involved in ITS Singapore since 2011 and served as an office bearer as the Secretary from 2015 to 2020. Alan was also a key member of the Organising Committee for the 2019 ITS World Congress in Singapore.

Dr Jaya Shankar
Co-opt Councillor

Jaya Shankar P is currently the Head of ITS Division at Institute for Infocomm Research, A*STAR. He has over 20+ years of experience in R&D and have worked in areas related to Intelligent Transport Systems, IoT, Localization and Wireless Networking.

During his earlier stages of his career, he participated in several European Community funded research projects such as ACTS OnTheMove, ACTS Cameleon, IST Moby Dick and IST Diadalos, while contributing to research areas related to Mobile Middleware, Mobile IP, IPv6 and Software Agents. He was actively involved in IEEE 802.16n, IEEE 802.11ah and ITU standards and chaired Singapore's DSRC standardization activity. He is currently co-chairing a work group related to Singapore's Standards for Autonomous Vehicle Data Exchange.

Ms Karen Cheung
Co-opt Councillor

Karen is the Managing Director of Aimsun, looking after the business development and operations for Asia. She has been working in the field of transport planning and engineering for close to 20 years in Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand.

As a Civil Engineer, she contributed to many of the transport infrastructure build in Singapore and overseas but her passion lies in traffic modelling and simulation, which leads her to return to this field with Aimsun and continue her journey developing smart and innovative transport solutions for the ITS industry.

Mr Leslie Tan
Co-opt Councillor

Leslie is currently the Vice President, Strategic Plans in ST Engineering Urban Solutions.  He is involved in developing and charting the growth plans for ST Engineering’s Smart Mobility business segment, including participation in the recently concluded US$2.68bn acquisition of TransCore (Electronic Tolling and Intelligent Transportation Systems company in the US) and unsuccessful take-private bid for Cubic Corp (urban transit payment company based in the US with operation in AUKUS) in 2021. 

Leslie’s 20 years with ST Engineering group has enabled him taking up various functions and gained experience in strategy development, M&A / investments and developing products & solutions. Passionate about catalyzing change, growing people and building enduring businesses, Leslie aims to serve the society in its mission to promote and support the development of the local ITS industry.

Mr James Kwok
Co-opt Councillor

Mr James Kwok is the Director, Intelligent Transport Systems and Sensors Development of Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) where he plays a leading role in the innovation and development of intelligent transport systems. James is a software engineer by training. He has more than 30 years of working experience in developing large-scale complex systems and sensors in both land transportation and defence application.  James holds a Bachelor of Science (Computer Science) (Hons), and Master of Defence Technology and Systems from National University.
